Caring for Your Hand Tufted Rug

What is a Tufted Rug? A tufted rug is created without knots, utilizing a tufting gun to weave loops of yarn through the rug's backing material. While they offer unique plushness, tufted rugs tend to shed more than other types.

Preventative Maintenance

  • Regularly hand brush or vacuum your rug (twice a week is recommended).
  • Swiftly remove spills by blotting with an undyed cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals.
  • Keep your rug away from damp areas and refrain from soaking it in water.
  • Do not dry clean.

Fluff New hand tufted rugs may shed excess fibers initially, which is a normal occurrence and not a manufacturing fault. This shedding will diminish over time, so be sure to vacuum regularly with suction only.

Sprouting Occasionally, you might notice sprouting tufts on your hand tufted rug. Do not pull them out, as this could damage the rug. Instead, carefully trim any protruding tufts with sharp scissors.

Crushing Over time, heavy furniture can create indentations in the pile of hand tufted rugs. To reduce this effect, periodically rearrange your furniture to distribute weight evenly.

Cleaning Avoid using carpet cleaning products with harmful chemicals, as they may harm the color and quality of your hand tufted rug. In case of spills, blot liquid spills with a paper towel or absorbent cloth, and do not rub or scrub to prevent pile damage.

Stains For dry stains, gently scrape and vacuum away dirt and stains. Wet stains should be treated promptly by blotting with a paper towel or undyed cloth, using lukewarm water and a cloth or sponge to dampen the stain, and repeating until the stain fades. Avoid soaking the rug to preserve the glue binding holding the tufts in place.
